After the great reception of the First Python Málaga Meetup, we were eager for the next event!
Next stop: PyDay 2016.
PyDay 2016 is an event organised by Python España, aimed to expand local Python communities and running from 12nd – 18th of September. Local community meetups, dojos and workshops happened across cities including Madrid, Barcelona, Vigo, Murcia and Valencia.
PyDay MLG 2016 took place at the Ebury Málaga office on September 14th and, just like our first event, the reception was very good with more than 35 attendees enjoying fantastic talks by prominent programmers.
Firstly, the attendees could learn about how to correctly use unicode in Python in “Unicode: WTF?” by @_amatellanes. You can access the slides below:
Secondly, @danigm gave good examples on how to easily create a desktop application using GTK+ and Python. All code and slides from this talk are available here.
Lastly, Jose A. Perdiguero gave an introduction to the amazing world of data analysis using a Python stack. All code and slides from his talk are available here.
As well as the talks, all who attended could enjoy food, cold beverages and an amazing venue in the centre of Málaga. We raffled off some Python books to the attendees, as a token of our appreciation of their participation and enthusiasm.
To conclude, we would like to thank the speakers and attendees for such a great PyDay!
One more thing: We are proud to announce that Ebury will be the Gold Sponsor of PyConES 2016. PyConEs is the most important Python conference in Spain, hosted from 7th – 9th October in Almería. There will be almost 70 different talks and workshops about web development, science and Python in general.
We expect to see you there!
